Founder, James E. Morten ( known as Jim to family and friends ) formed Interprint Incorporated in 1965. Jim’s career began in Ontario, Canada, working in the printing industry for many years as a “camera operator” where art was photographed to compose copy for the printed projects. Jim later turned his focus towards printing sales and management after moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in the early 1960’s. Working in print sales for a small firm, Jim met Robert M. Menke (founder and President of Bankers Financial Corporation) through a business networking association, where the two of them partnered and created Interprint Incorporated in 1965. Four years later, in 1969, Jim and Robert relocated Interprint to Clearwater, Florida and built the company’s main offices.
In 1984, Jim purchased 100% of the company, and became owner and principle share holder along with his wife, Lorraine Morten, and sons. In 1990, Interprint embarked on a major expansion, adding heat-set web printing capabilities to increase the company’s production capacity. Additional expansions over the next two decades included: Full Web Equipment, Mail-House facilities, Perfect Binding plant, along with the purchase of an additional 9 acres next to the original facility site which affords future development and expansion for the company. Today, Interprint operates 3 separate production facilities, running production around-the-clock, servicing clients throughout the Southeast and the National market as well. After all these years, Interprint is still family owned and operated, with all senior level management working at the company over 40 years.
As industry evolves, Interprint Web Printing is committed to its customers and employees, competing on a regional and national basis. One of Jim Morten’s creeds, which is ingrained into the culture within the Interprint family, was “never give up”. This determination and spirit is alive and reflected every day as the company continues to grow.
