The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Tampa Bay has been at the forefront of humane animal care in the Tampa Bay community for nearly 70 years.
With your help, the SPCA will continue to take in Tampa Bay’s unwanted animals and find permanent homes for as many pets as possible.
If you or anyone you know has a loving home and can adopt an animal, particularly one with special needs, please contact the SPCA or stop by for a visit.

Since 1940, serving the community as an open-door admissions facility for the huge population of unwanted, mistreated and abandoned animals, the mission of the SPCA Tampa Bay is:
- Protect and shelter sick, injured, homeless and unwanted animals.
- Find loving new homes for homeless animals.
- Educate the public concerning the humane care of animals.
- Assist in the enforcement of laws and ordinances for animal protection.
Open six days a week, no appointment is necessary. The SPCA admits all owned pets, and sick/injured strays and is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that relies on donations form the community, businesses and individual donors.
The organization does not receive any State or Federal tax dollars. Your philanthropic support plays an essential role in ensuring that homeless pets receive humane care. The SPCA is Largest Pet Adoption Facility in Tampa Bay and adopts out many kinds of animals.
Housed on a 5-Acre Farm Animal Sanctuary, you can take a ‘Share Their Shelter’ tour and feed the goats, cow, horses and donkeys that are permanent SPCA Tampa Bay residents.
Hospital And Disaster Response: The SPCA treat broken bones, skin and ear infections, heartworms, along with proactive animal cruelty Investigations. Every call reporting a suspected animal cruelty is acted on handling more than 1,500 investigations / reinvestigation's each year.
They provide Disaster Response / Animal Recovery working with the Humane Society of the United States to deploy Bay Area Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) volunteers after disasters strike.
